What Customers Say About Twinings English Breakfast Loose Leaf Tea:

This Twinings tea is a simple pleasure that never offends. The blend uses only small, less-expensive particles that infuse more quickly than whole leaves. To avoid excessive particulate matter in your drink, use a strainer or infuser with a fine mesh. Twinings English Breakfast Tea was originally blended to complement the traditional, hearty English Breakfast, from which its name derives. Would I rank it as my favorite tea or even my favorite Twinings. Twinings literature tells us that this is a blend of Kenyan and Assam black teas. It is sturdy enough to be enjoyed with milk or sweetener, yet has little harshness when consumed black.Twinings of London was founded in 1706, and is known internationally for marketing teas of consistency and value. This blend approaches full strength within just a couple minutes, yet is somewhat tolerant of over-steeping.

The taste is similar to blends from other brands that use some Ceylon tea.Cognoscenti prefer loose tea because tea bags contain the less expensive "fannings" or "dust," remains from processing loose leaf tea. And, sometimes you can taste the paper used in bags. However, this Twinings loose tea has no uncut leaves. (Amazon sells Tovolo, Teeli, and Frieling/Swissgold filters with very small openings in their screens). This product is a fine introduction to the world of loose tea. No, but I always keep some available for when I want the pleasure of plain ol' tea.

For this product you basically get what is in the bag style, fine chopped. The tea tastes great, but the grind is too fine. By loose, I assumed in the typical long strands that one finds most loose teas in the form of. It would not work in my tea ball, so unless you have a fine strainer or can drink tea with lots of chunks in it, then it will fit the bill. Overall, somewhat disappointed.

This is great tea, I still like making tea in a pot using bulk tea and this fits the bill.

Twinings was founded in London, England in 1706, and has a long and respected tradition of producing only the finest of teas. Plus, I must say that this tea is wonderful iced - add some lemon and sugar, and you've got the right tea for a hot afternoon. If you want an excellent all-round tea, hot or iced, one that goes well with any food, then English Breakfast tea is for you. Though often served during breakfast, this tea tastes excellent all day long. I highly recommend Twinings' English Breakfast tea to all, even those not normally into tea drinking. OK, let's get down to brass tacks - this is another great tea. English Breakfast tea is a mixture of black teas from Sri Lanka, which are blended to produce a smooth yet flavorful tea. And that's my review.

Harder to over-steep than some of the teas I have known, it consistently produces a smooth and highly drinkable cup. Highly conventional in its taste, English Breakfast tea has a robust flavor that stands up well to lemon and milk, which makes it a favorite among those who like to accessorize their tea. If you want tea from a great tea producer, them Twinings is for you. (Or, perhaps especially to those not normally into tea drinking).

Given this blend's orgin, the name "English" Breakfast is a bit of a misnomer, because it was a Scotsman - a 19th century Edinburgh tea master named Drysdale - who first marketed his particular blend under the name "breakfast tea." It proved so popular, however, that it was soon copied by tea houses all over Britain, many of which then added the word "English," which has been part of its name ever since.English Breakfast can contain black teas from a variety of origins, among them India, Sri Lanka, Kenya, Malawi and China. Stronger than most other teas, the blend is made to match the traditionally heavy English breakfast, which to this day often includes pork, sausages and eggs, and for this reason English Breakfast tea also maintains its flavor very well with the addition of cream or milk. It is certainly less refined than Darjeeling or even Earl Grey, but hard to beat as an everyday "work horse," and as good or better an early morning pick-me-up as any kind of coffee.
